Practice Areas: Litigation and Dispute Resolution

Francisco is an associate in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution team.  He focuses his practice on international arbitration, commercial litigation, administrative law, and competition law.  He is the author of the book “The Marked Definition in Ecuador” (2022).

He has been involved in over 10 investment treaty disputes and international commercial arbitrations, related to the energy, mining, engineering and construction industries, among others.  He has experience in proceedings administered by ICSID, the PCA, the ICC and the BCC.  Furthermore, he represented a sovereign State before the International Court of Justice. 

Previously, he worked in the arbitration team of an international law firm in London advising sovereign states, state-owned companies, and private parties in international dispute resolution proceedings as well as non-contentious issues of international law.  He also represented the Republic of Ecuador and its public companies as an attorney at the International Affairs and Arbitration Directorate of the Attorney General’s Office of Ecuador.  In addition, he served as a judicial law clerk at the Supreme Court of Ecuador.

He is a visiting lecturer of alternative dispute resolution, international commercial law, and commercial and corporate law at some universities.
