Melissa is a lawyer from Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo and has a master’s degree in law with a Major in Procedural Law from Universidad Católica de Guayaquil.
Author of the book “Evidence assessment in the Ecuadorian appeal” which studies the main challenges of this topic both in its legal configuration and in its jurisprudential development. Author of various academic articles, among which stands out “The joint assessment of evidence” published in the book “Current issues of procedural law” (Collective work of the Ecuadorian Institute of Procedural Law).
Melissa is as well member of the Ecuadorian Institute of Procedural Law, lecturer at Universidad San Francisco de Quito where she teaches General Processes, Introduction to Procedural Law and Theory of Evidence.
In professional practice melissa’s areas of expertise include procedural, administrative and constitutional law. She worked in institutions such as Ecuador’s Constitutional Court and the Ministry of Women and Human Rights, where she undertook the role of Undersecretary for the Prevention and Eradication of Violence against Women.
